Wisdom of Our Fathers

It is a common idea that the intellect gets in the way of Christian faith. In America today, it is common to hear preaching that downplays wisdom and intellect in favor of emotions and being "childlike." And yet, the book of Proverbs commends us to be wise and to grow in wisdom. What is wisdom? Why should we have it? Where does it come from? How does being Christian fit into this?
